Keith E. Kendall, a former prosecutor, was admitted to practice law in 1985, and has over 25 years of legal experience. As both a former prosecutor and currently as a criminal defense attorney, Attorney Kendall has handled over 100 criminal cases and has taken over 25 cases to trial.
As a former county prosecutor, Attorney Kendall has prosecuted just about every kind of criminal case from every type of violent crime to DUI to sex offenses and all forms of theft, firearms violations and drug offenses. As Assistant District Attorney, Attorney Kendall handled misdemeanor and felony prosecutions, including every aspect of the prosecution from the Preliminary Hearing stage to pre-trial discovery, plea negotiations and, of course, trial. As Assistant District Attorney, Attorney Kendall won the overwhelming majority of his trials.
In addition, Attorney Kendall worked with detectives and state and local police agencies advising them whether they had probable cause, approving or disapproving search and arrest warrants, advising investigators and police on criminal investigations and arrests. After serving as Assistant District Attorney, Attorney Kendall moved on to join the Pennsylvania State Police. As Assistant Chief Counsel to the Pennsylvania State Police, Attorney Kendall advised the Pennsylvania State Police administration in all legal matters, including investigations, legality of search and arrest warrants, whether probable cause existed and he provided overall legal counsel and assistance in their criminal investigations.
This prosecutorial experience and supervision over criminal investigations provides Attorney Kendall with a good perspective on what to expect from the prosecution in any particular situation, helps him to identify weaknesses in the prosecution's case and helps him in plea negotiations because prosecutors know he is a former prosecutor and knows the tactics they use. Because of his years a prosecutor, Attorney Kendall is better able to identify and exploit weaknesses in the prosecution's case in pre-trial hearings, plea negotiations or trial. Attorney Kendall brings all this skill and experience to the defense of his private criminal defense clients.
Attorney Kendall's reputation is that he is an aggressive criminal defense attorney, who is not afraid to take the case to trial. Attorney Kendall's number one concern is to obtain the best result for his client whether that means a well-negotiated plea or taking the case to trial. Criminal defendants are well-advised to have a former prosecutor on their side fighting for them.
Attorney Kendall graduated from Ohio Northern University's Pettit School of Law with a Juris Doctorate with Distinction in 1984 and from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1980.
Mr. Kendall lives in Hampden Township, Cumberland County with his wife and son. Attorney Kendall has a proven track record of successful, effective and creative representation of individuals.
